Does the work incorporate equity?
Despite being one of the fast-growing profession, the Physician Assistant workforce struggles with diversity; over 80% of practicing PAs are White and less than 4% are Black/African American. Studies have shown that lack of diversity can worsen health outcomes. Furthermore, acceptance into PA programs is increasingly competitive and White students have a 44% likelihood of matriculation. A pathway program for minority students was created to address this problem.
Does this work address any of the UChicago Medicine quality priorities as listed on the Clinical Excellence Scorecard?
