Does the work incorporate equity?
This work addresses equity by exploring a systems-based strategy to bridge gaps in awareness and uptake of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) among Black/African American cisgender women. PrEP is not equitably distributed among all demographics impacted by HIV: according to CDC estimates, only 10% of individuals assigned female at birth and 9% of Black individuals indicated for PrEP received a prescription in 2020, compared to 27% of individuals assigned male at birth and 66% of white individuals. These data demonstrate the need for equitable HIV care and prevention for Black women.
Does this work address any of the UChicago Medicine quality priorities as listed on the Clinical Excellence Scorecard?
