Brian Callender is an adult hospitalist who serves as a co-director for the Advanced Practice Service Short Stay Unit. He is interested in how disciplines within the health humanities can improve the patient experience and patient education. These disciplines include the philosophy of medicine, the phenomenology of illness, narrative medicine, and graphic medicine. He has worked on projects that incorporate graphic narrative into patient education materials as a way to better contextualize the patient experience within a therapeutic narrative.
