The University of Chicago Medicine seeks to partner with companies at the forefront of patient care, bringing cutting-edge tools and approaches to bear on the most pressing challenges we face. The Center for Healthcare Delivery Science and Innovation created a streamlined process to learn about new ideas and partnership opportunities to improve clinical practice, patient experience and workflow. This Innovation Intake program offers an entry point to UCM for everyone from internal innovators to early-stage start-ups to established vendors with a new product. Whether a company is looking for mentorship, a pilot site, or a commercial relationship, this program finds the most promising solutions and forges a pathway to partnership.

Partnership with UChicago Medicine can develop in many ways:
- Content Expertise and Mentorship: UCM connects innovators with experts to vet and provide feedback on proposed solutions to help them realize their impact.
- Funding: UCM Ventures invests in select start-ups that have a strong UChicago connection, whose products could be used at UCM.
- Pilot Site: UCM will provide opportunities to implement and test innovations in a healthcare system.
- Commercial Relationship: UCM offers this pathway to vet new products for a potential vendor relationship.

Our Current Partners
In 2023, UChicago Medicine and the University of Chicago partnered to contract with MDClone. The goal of improving access to HIPAA-compliant data will aid in cutting-edge research grants, internal hospital quality improvement, and partnerships with schools in the University.
As part of the HDSI Covid Innovation Challenge, UChicago Medicine adapted a mobile app, moblMD, to facilitate communication in the pandemic-era. Clinicians could contact patient rooms, each other, and receive updates of rapidly-changing hospital policies.
In 2021, UChicago Medicine launched a one-year pilot with TailorMed to aid UChicago Medicine oncology patients by seamlessly screening and identifying potential financial support to relieve their out of pocket drug expenses.
Piloted in 2020, the cloud-based version was as an awardee in the HDSI Covid Innovation Challenge. NowPow is embedded in Epic and provides prescriptions to community based resources for UChicago Medicine patients based on screening of individuals’ social determinants of health.
