Dr. LaFond identifies interventions at the individual, unit, and organizational level  that promote nurses’ adoption and sustainment of evidence-based practice and patient-centered care. She has a particular interest in improving how we detect and manage pain in hospitalized children. Additionally, in her role as Director for Nursing Research at University of Chicago Medicine, Dr. LaFond conducts research to evaluate and better inform nurses’ delivery of patient care, supports staff to conduct research regarding nurse-sensitive patient outcomes, and collaborates with faculty on projects involving nurses.
